Night time cloudscapes with Aurora Borealis

There were pretty nice chances for catching Aurora Borealis this spring. Luckily I got something captured, even thought most nights that I had gear outside capturing nightscape, I didn't capture nothing but clear sky.

As I was walking my dog before we went to bed I noticed that there were faint colouring in the night sky and I decided to set up camera near by field to catch the northern lights in the northern part of the nightsky. Then few days later I noticed again the same faint colouring and again I set up my camera on the same spot. This time I was way earlier on the move, so I captured a longer video. Also I changed the battery just before I went to bed.

And then on the next night again, there were also faint colouring in the sky and I again I set up me gear to capture that, but after I post processed it, it wasn't as good as previous night.

Cloudscapes in the wild

It has been a while, again, but I have been busy in life and weather hasn't been on my side when I had time to focus on shooting something in the sky.

Okay, I have taken a lot of single pictures of clouds and cloudscape, but I tend to forget those exist.

This is actually just few days ago, couple of hours before sunset.

You can run your imagination as wild as you can with this one.

These two are just a few minutes apart and a bit different location as I was on a walk with my dog.

I thought about setting my camera for this when I was going for a morning walk with my dog, but he was in a hurry so I didn't get to bring my gear with us.

I have thought about setting my camera on a random field, when I am going to work and collect it when getting back to home, but as it is planting season and such, there is quite lot traffic on the fields and I don't wan't to set up my gear in a such way that it is "blocking" them.

Evening edition and day cloudscapes

I usually shoot only one timelapse per day, but on 10th of July I shot two different timelapses.

First is just day time timelapse with cirrus clouds.

And in towards the end there are <insert> clouds.

Then I tried to shoot a sunset, but there were too much coverage, but interesting sky nevertheless.

Bright and warm cloudscape to watch, when it is dark and cold outside, isn't it?

Last sunset of the year

As the year comes to the end, it was time to shoot the last sunset of the year 2025.

I set this up in near by swimming place at Köyliönjärvi and I set the timer to 6 seconds interval. About 1,5 hours before sunset. It had been quite warm December month, but at the end of the month, weather turned to cold and year 2026 started with pretty damn cold weather.

As you can see the ice sheet is pretty clear from the snow and it was thick.
